Background of Vihaan Programme

To have  comprehensive community-based care and support centres as part of the national response to meet the needs of PLHIV, high risk groups, women and children living with and affected by HIV, specifically improving quality of life, treatment adherence and mitigating the impact of HIV & AIDS in 350 districts of all high and low prevalence states of India.

Project Goals:

The overall goal of the programme is to improve the survival and quality of life of PLHIV

Objectives:

  • Early linkages of PLHIV to Care ,Support and treatment services
  • Improved treatment adherence and education for PLHIV
  • Expanded positive prevention activities
  • Improved social protection and wellbeing of PLHIV
  • Strengthened community systems and reduced stigma and discrimination

Counselling

 Provided peer counseling sessions to  5678 clients on different thematic areas based on their needs.

NAPS+ under VIHAAN programme mainly focused on differentiated care which (includes 9 core programme activities) is the one of the main component of NACP-5 under National AIDs control Organisation (NACO).

Nutrition Support

By the support of Kendriya Bandar in coordination with Alliance India given nutrition support to 225 HIV Infected/ effected children worth of Rs 3,40,000/- on 18-02-2022 at District legal services Authority, Nizamabad , chief guest: Mrs. Suneetha Kunchala –District Sessions Judge and J. Vikram- Secretary, DLSA, Nizamabad.

Community Advocacy

NAPS under VIHAAN programme conducted Advocacy programmes with different line departments to sensitize them on health related issues of HIV reactive people and to linking them with different social protection schemes.

Other Achievements:

By the successful advocacy efforts out of 52 children 30 children getting sponsorship support by ICPS

  • By the support of Kendriya Bandar in coordination with Alliance India given nutrition support to 225 HIV Infected/ effected children.
  • 285 clients successfully linked to ART pension scheme
  • Under the skill building component 8 women PLHIVs given tailoring training with the support of Creative Trainings

Engagement with SACS and DAPCUs

  • Conducting ART- CSC coordination meetings regularly to mitigate the gaps to reduce LFU/ Mis cases
  • Sharing action plans of CSC and inviting advocacy and other programmes conducted by CSC
  • Attending review meetings and coordination meetings conducted by DAPCU
  • Conducting coordination meetings with ICTCs, DSRC on regular basis to mitigate the gaps
